There are many ways to volunteer at Great Plains Zen Center. Work practice is an important part of Zen — being completely present for each activity that we do. Volunteers assist with the care of GPZC’s grounds and gardens during work days and half-day sittings in Monroe. Volunteers come early to help set up and clean prior to retreats and special events.
In GPZC’s Palatine location, volunteers help with set up and clean up for Sunday evening sittings.
Volunteers help with many administrative functions from designing and printing publicity to serving on the board of directors to helping with fundraising.
You can volunteer for a single event, assist on a regular basis or join one of the stewardship circles. Whether you have specialized skills or just want to help out in a general way, we welcome you to participate!
Interested in volunteering? Here are ways to let us know:

- Let one of the Sunday evening coordinators in Palatine know that you are available to help
- Contact the steward of the circle you are interested in assisting using the contact form. Select stewardship circles on the first drop down menu, then the circle you are interested in joining or helping in the next drop down menu.
