July Seven-Day Sesshin, July 7-14 2024

GPZC will offer a Seven-Day Sesshin, July 7-14  2024 as part of our Summer Ango.  The sesshin will begin Sunday evening with Opening Remarks, Zazen and Fusatsu.  Shuso Hossen with Shuso Lori Shinko Snyder will take place on Saturday, July 13.  All are encouraged to attend Shuso Hossen (in person or online) even if not able to participate in the rest of the sesshin.  The retreat will end Sunday morning, July 14.

A weeklong sesshin is a valuable opportunity, allowing students to go deeply into their practice of sitting, chanting, and work.   Silent, embodied practice throughout the day is powerful.  While the initial days can be challenging, our practice can become more engaged and focussed as body and mind settle in harmoniously. Full time or part time participation is permitted and you can attend online, in person or a combination of both.

Please check our COVID guidelines page for the latest information.

Scholarships are available for any who need them. As always, we encourage those who are able to donate an additional amount for the retreat to help us keep retreats affordable for everyone. Participants will receive instructions, a detailed schedule, and Zoom access information after registering.  The cost of this retreat is $300 for members and $350 for others for fulltime in person participation, prorated for part time.  The suggested donation for online participation is $10-30 per night, depending on how much you will be attending.  A set of oryoki bowls can be rented for $5 if you do not have your own. Please  register no later than Thursday, July 4.
