Service Role: Office Assistant
Frequency/Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per week/6 month commitment
Special Skills Needed: Organizational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, basic knowledge of Excel is preferred, able to stand while working for periods of time
Training Needed: volunteer orientation, on the job training
Location of Work: WINGS Main Office in Rolling Meadows

Service Role: Logistic Center Volunteer
Frequency/Time Commitment: Once a week for about 4 hours at a time, 10 week commitment
Special Skills Needed: Able to work while standing, able to lift 25 lbs
Training Needed: volunteer orientation, on the job training
Location of Work: WINGS Logistic Center 1265 Oakton St. Elk Grove

Service Role: Resale Store Cashier
Frequency/Time Commitment: Once a week for about 4 hours at a time/3 months
Special Skills Needed: Comfortable working with a cash register and handling sales transactions (or are willing to learn), comfortable with fundamental math concepts including calculating percents
Training Needed: volunteer orientation, on the job training
Location of Work: WINGS Palatine Resale Store 1315 N. Rand Rd. Palatine, IL

Service Role: Safe House Hostess
Frequency/Time Commitment: 1-2 meal shifts a week (lunch Mon-Fri
11:30am-2:00pm, dinner Mon-Fri 4:30pm-6pm)/1 year
Special Skills needed: A commitment to keeping the location confidential. Any personal experience with domestic violence should be more than 2 years prior to applying for this volunteer opportunity.
Training needed: Completion of the 40 Hour Domestic Violence Training (provided by WINGS 2 times a year.)
Location of Work: WINGS Domestic Violence Safe House, an undisclosed location in Northwest Suburban Area

Service Role: Safe House Cook
Frequency/Time Commitment: timing is very flexible. Most people come once a week for 2 or 3 hours at a time. COMMITMENT: Requires a 12-month commitment to volunteer weekly
Special Skills needed: You enjoy cooking, creative in menu planning and would be able to think of substitutions when some items are unavailable. You feel comfortable working with people in a diverse environment in regards to social-economic status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and religion.
Training needed: Completion of the Illinois Food Sanitation Class (WINGS will cover the cost.) Completion of the 40 Hour Domestic Violence Training (provided by WINGS 2 times a year.)
Location of Work: WINGS Domestic Violence Safe House, which is in an undisclosed location in Northwest Suburban Area

Service Role: Crisis Line Volunteer
Frequency/Time Commitment: 3-4 hours a week/1 year
Special Skills needed: You are a good listener and able to give empathy and options without giving advice. You are able to stay calm, even when others become upset or emotional. You feel comfortable working with people in a diverse environment in regards to social-economic status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and religion.
Training needed: Completion of the 40 Hour Domestic Violence Training (provided by WINGS 2 times a year.) Any personal experience with domestic violence should be more than two years prior to applying for this volunteer opportunity. A willingness to keep the location confidential.
Location of Work: WINGS Domestic Violence Safe House, which is in an undisclosed location in Northwest Suburban Area and the City of Chicago.
